小李闻到八角的香味。他看到小小李的小手和光亮的脸。他感觉到手里热乎乎的煎饼。他听到胡同大厨的平底锅里煎肉的滋滋声。
然后，小李好像回到了刘依诺的厨房。刘依诺做了一些吃的东西，他不知道是什么，但是他记得闻到了八角的香味。
小李想起了刘依诺美丽的脸庞和她眼中的生命力量。他低头看着王雪梅，他的妻子。她也很漂亮。小李感觉很悲伤。他欣赏刘依诺，他也想为王雪梅做正确的事。两个同时都是真的。
